Crass reporters continue the conspiracy of COVID propaganda
Privileged political censorship propels the rise of fascism
Laura Spinney wrote an article published in the Guardian on Sunday, March 9th, 2025. She claims to be a science journalist, yet her piece sets out its intention from the start. First, the headline, ‘ … the right’s fake COVID narrative … ’, and then the sub-heading, ‘ … misguided voices must be muted.’ I hope Spinney takes a long hard look in the mirror some day. It’s this sort of trash that has stoked support for fascism, thrust science into existential peril, and mixed traditional vaccines into the pot of distrust that should have, largely, been reserved for experimental vaccines.
There’s no need for any debate on COVID to be situated within a political spectrum, certainly not with such brazen embrace. Intelligent people would avoid it. Unfortunately, the hyper-politicization of the whole deadly debacle occurred due to the rise of outrageous authoritarian censorship. That’s what pushed hordes of people into a swamp of alternative news, where they could never hope to escape the ‘strong’ identity politics of bullies and fascists. Those who engage in the doublethink of seeking open discussion, so long as it’s closed to people they disagree with, are responsible.
You see, Laura, when people feel threatened, they get anxious and angry. When their businesses are shut down, and they lose their income, or they lose their jobs because they refuse to be injected with experimental drugs that are killing and maiming people, they seek justice. When they go for a walk in the middle of nowhere with one friend, posing no threat to anybody, and find themselves arrested by the police, they feel frightened about the sudden emergence of tyranny. When they’re prevented from seeing their dying loved ones, when they’re assaulted and dragged out of shops for failing to wear useless masks, and when their doctors and nurses are incapable of fielding even the most rudimentary question about treatment, they look for something to explain it. When they can see, quite clearly, that they are being lied to, that all pre-pandemic policy and science has been thrown in the dustbin, that those raising concern about what is happening have their social media accounts shut down, their livelihoods stolen, and their voices silenced, that’s when people seek an alternative forum.
If you want to have a conversation, don’t start it by calling for the censorship of people who disagree with you. If you intend to stimulate scientific debate, don’t litter your article with anthropology, psychology, celebrity-driven pseudoscience, and circus politics. Posting one uncritical statement, with one link, to one article suggesting masks worked, doesn’t make for scientific journalism. Neither does ending an article with the petulant cry to silence the ‘misguided’, by which you mean, people who disagree with you. It’s neither science nor journalism. It’s propaganda. There are some self-indulgent, over-privileged, incendiary hacks who might be wise to choose silence before they do any more damage to the social and political fabric. Not that there’s much left to save.
Over the coming year, I’ll be publishing excerpts from my book for free on Substack. I’ll include references, such as the study co-authored by Fauci that confirmed the majority of deaths that occurred during the Spanish Flu pandemic were due to secondary bacterial pneumonia, likely caused by the wearing of cloth over the airways. Subscribe if you’d like to be kept up-to date.
