Why Britain is sick: a brief introduction to a long list
Time to rename benefits as (inadequate) compensation for a reckless state
The prime purpose of government is to facilitate a state of existence where people can go about their lives without unlawful interference or harm being caused by the actions of others, whether this is direct or indirect. Where an action results in harm that reasonable actions cannot prevent, the government has a duty to act. In all cases, compensation is due either privately—when an individual, or organization, fails in their duty of care, or publicly, when the state fails in its duty to ensure that its citizens are afforded adequate protection under the law.
Some things nobody can change or prevent. However, the majority of the factors listed below are caused, wholly or in part, by failures at the governmental level to ensure the adequate regulation of activities or technologies that result in harm to human health. Most of these factors cannot be avoided by the average individual, even if they know about them. In fact, most people will be completely unaware of the horrific extent of toxicity contained in the contemporary environment. The influx of toxins has been enabled by an addiction to short-term innovation that results in profits for a few at the cost of a permanently toxic environment for the many. Additionally, children have little to no capacity to either learn about this, or to avoid it; their exposure to such potent toxins is a form of child abuse facilitated by the state. Chronic or acute exposure to just one of these factors can lead to ill health. However, most people face a synergistic exposure to many of these substances, and this list is thousands of items short of being exhaustive.
Despite dead-head zombies believing that millions of people are suddenly faking illness, they’re not. From 2008 onwards, people have been under increasing assault from economic fascism, and utter complacency toward health. We’ve reached a tipping point. The burden of toxicity is overwhelming. The state has failed in its duty to protect our health from the selfish greed of others, and failed to provide adequate, effective health care. Compensation is due to all of us, especially those who suffer most from ill health. It’s time to grow up, take responsibility for your actions, and understand that benefits need relabelling as Compensation for a Toxic Environment (CoTE). Just a few reasons why are listed below.
